The Covid-19 health crisis has given ideas to Lyon-based Ouvry, an SME specializing in CBRN protection for internal security forces and armies. And it has been reinforced by the 2021 review of the 2017 Strategic Review, which highlights these risks in Western countries and in France in particular. In 2020, the company thus invested €3 million in new industrial equipment, such as production molds that were used, among other things, to develop the OCOV® mask, which can be used a hundred times against the coronavirus.
Since 2015, Ouvry has been building on the success of two complementary products: CBRN filtering suits and the OC50 mask with a voice amplifier. More than 150,000 suits manufactured for Civil Security and Health, 22,000 FELIN® CBRN equipment, more than 15,000 DECPOL® and more than 15,000 OC50® masks, manufactured in Lyon since 2016, have been delivered in France and internationally (which represents 60% of the turnover with 44 countries). The POLYCOMBI suit (Multipurpose CBRN Protection Suit) is the protection system for first responders, whether they are police officers (national, RAID, BRI), gendarmes (GIGN) or firefighters (military and volunteers). The firefighters have also increased their orders by 40% since 2018. Enough to intervene safely after a sarin gas attack in a subway or after a malicious act in a nuclear power plant.
But the SME is not stopping there. It has just been selected by EDF in the field of security/safety related to critical infrastructures to equip the FARN (Nuclear Rapid Action Force). This is a unique intervention force created in France in 2011 after the Fukushima disaster. EDF has 300 team members, ready to intervene in less than 24 hours at any nuclear power plant. Ouvry has also captured the markets of the European Parliament, the SNCF and the CEA.
Its outfits also equip employees at the port of Calais and the port of Abidjan, in the Ivory Coast. A year before the two explosions in August 2020 in the port of Beirut, Lebanese firefighters were equipped with these French NBC suits.
To complete its offer, Ouvry is developing a new inter-service glove for the end of 2021, which will be used by both medical personnel and internal security forces: the OG05 will protect them against any chemical or biological agent and against any industrial toxin.
