Research and Innovation in a CBRNe Context
OUVRY Introduces Innovative Hydration and Respiratory Isolation Systems
Lyon – Arcachon – May 19, 2026 – At the 7th International Conference on CBRNe Research & Innovation, held in Arcachon from May 19 to 21, 2026, Ouvry will host the world premiere of two innovative systems—ODRINK and AIR PROTEC®—engineered to address the critical challenges of hydration during CBRNe missions and respiratory isolation during the medical transport of infectious patients.
Both solutions are the result of a 100% French R&D process, followed by a testing and validation phase conducted in close collaboration with civil and military end-users.
As Ludovic Ouvry, founder and CEO of the OUVRY group, points out: “Innovating in personal protective equipment is not just about improving gear; it is about extending the capacity to operate and survive in the most extreme environments.”
ODRINK: Continuous Hydration in CBRN Environments
An innovative continuous hydration system for missions in chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive (CBRNe) environments.
This first poster presented at the conference will highlight the vital importance of continuous hydration systems for personnel operating under CBRN constraints, and introduces a practical solution—ODRINK®—which allows users to drink with or without a respiratory protective mask.

Context and Problem
Water accounts for 60% of body mass and is essential for metabolism, cognitive alertness, and cardiovascular stability. During CBRN missions involving gas masks and protective suits, water requirements skyrocket (up to 2 liters/hour during intense exertion), leading to fatigue, delayed reactions, and heatstroke risks. Operational constraints make conventional hydration impossible.
Solution: The ODRINK System
OUVRY has developed ODRINK®, a durable, transparent 3-liter reservoir compatible with respiratory protective devices. It enables hands-free hydration in small, regular sips—even on the move—via a direct tube (flow rate of 200 ml/min). It also allows users to drink directly by mouth when outside CBRN environments.
Testing and Compliance
Tested against chemical warfare agents (HD, GD, VX), toxic industrial chemicals (TICs), and bacteria, as well as according to NATO AEP-4810 specification standards (compressive strength, drop resistance, hot/cold thermal cycle resistance, etc.). It is PFAS-free, Bisphenol A-free, heavy metal-free, taste-neutral, and certified food-safe.

AIR PROTEC: Respiratory Isolation for Infectious Patients
A mobile respiratory isolation system designed to safely transport contagious patients emitting pathogenic aerosols.
This second poster highlights risks in confined spaces and demonstrates a massive reduction in infectious particles through the use of AIR PROTEC®.

Context and Problem
Transporting patients with airborne infectious diseases (such as during medical evacuations) carries a high risk of contaminating vehicles, helicopters, or ambulances, and exposing healthcare personnel. Aerosols (particles ≤ 5 µm) spread rapidly in enclosed environments, posing major biological and operational challenges.
Solution: AIR PROTEC
This system consists of a mobile, transparent isolation bubble (BIM) covering the patient’s entire ENT sphere, featuring an extraction unit equipped with a HEPA filter. The BIM provides immediate access to the patient and connects to hospital central vacuum systems.
Test Results and Compliance
Measurements taken 50 cm from the patient show an explosion of particles without the system (+26,000% in emergency rooms), compared to a reduction of up to -36% with AIR PROTEC®. Overall result: 99.9999% fewer particles ≤ 5 µm, with no detectable particles in the surrounding area.
Class I medical device, certified for electromagnetic compatibility (IEC/NF EN 60601 standards), effective in ambulances, hospitals, or aircraft. It improves the comfort of patients in respiratory distress, is compatible with oxygen therapy, and eliminates the need for CBRN equipment for staff; currently used by French hospitals and Luxembourg Air Rescue.

About Ouvry
